Upcoming Events At NYA
The following activities will take place at NYA Sports & Fitness. Registration is required for each and may be done online at nyasportsfitness.com.
Speed & Agility for boys and girls, Mondays and Wednesdays, April 21-May 15; middle and high school, 3 to 4 pm; third-sixth grade, 4 to 5 pm. Class on technique for neurological adaptation; repetitive drills and exercises used to improve run technique, speed and agility for growing athletes; $75 per student.
KidsFit for Girls, Thursdays, April 24-May 16; seventh and eighth grade, 2:30 to 3:30 pm; fifth and sixth grade, 3:30-4:30 pm; teaches girls about health and fitness in a way that makes exercising fun, with focus on increasing strength, flexibility, agility, and confidence by performing exercises that help with everyday life, and introduces healthy eating habits; $40 per student.
Zumba, Tuesdays, April 22-May 13; seventh and eighth grade, 2:30 to 3:30 pm; fifth and sixth grade, 3:30-4:30 pm; combination of Latin and international music-dance themes creating a dynamic and exciting calorie-burning workout using fast and slow rhythms to improve aerobic capacity and overall fitness; $40 per student.
Yoga for Dudes, a special free session for men Saturday, May 3, 11 am, but registration required. Kripalu yoga instructor Joyce Rogalin teaches a mindful yoga practice that caters to all levels of ability. The 60-minute class focuses on breathing, stretching, strengthening the mind and body and modifications for those with limitations promote a safe yoga practice. Just come with an open mind and heart, mats and blocks will be available.
