Stuart C. Guyer, 73, husband of Muriel (MacArthur) Guyer of Pine Tree Hill Road, Newtown, died Friday, April 14, in the Lord Chamberlain Health Care Facility, Stratford.
Mr Guyer was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, October 19, 1926, a son of the late Charles and Mildred (Leighton) Guyer. During World War II he served in the US Navy on the USS Amsterdam in both the European and Pacific theaters.
He was employed as an accountant for the American Fabric Co. of Bridgeport until his retirement in 1992.
From 1965 to 1978, Mr Guyer was a resident of Monroe, where he was an avid softball player in the Monroe Slow Pitch league and a member of the former Town Line Fatherâs Club. He had been a resident of Newtown since 1978.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Linda Stonehart and Laurie Dean, both of Mesa, Arizona, and Leslie House of Middlebury, and 2 grandchildren, Patrick and Rebecca House.
A memorial service was held April 17 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St, Newtown.
