Doing Nothing About The Deer
Doing Nothing
About The Deer
To the Editor:
I canât believe the State of Connecticut and the towns of Sandy Hook and Newtown are doing absolutely nothing about your deer problems.
Where are the health departments, animal control departments, tourism board, and especially the people? Are they all not concerned about this problem that you have? So many people sick with Lyme disease, also so many pets.
Connecticut has the highest percentage of this disease. We in Vermont have been warned about the risk of people and pets going into Connecticut, especially this area.
We were down in this area awhile back â deer looking right into our hostâs house â deer eating right out of bird feeders etc. These deer are the dirtiest and mangiest deer I have ever seen. Iâm sure they carry more than just Lyme disease.
Here in Vermont bird feeders are not allowed when we have a deer and/or bear problems.
Needless to say we and many more will not be coming to Connecticut.
As I am an animal lover it seems so simple to tranquilize the deer and transport them to an extreme and remote wooded area both for the benefit of them and the benefit of the people, especially the children.
