Four Charged In Sandy Hook Burglary/Larceny

Police have charged four young men on warrants, arresting them on felony charges of burglary and larceny stemming from an incident last June at a Sandy Hook home.

Police arrested each of the four on charges of first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, criminal liability for first-degree larceny, and criminal liability for third-degree burglary.

After learning that police held warrants for their arrest, the four turned themselves over to police at the police station and were charged.

Police allege that the four were involved in a June 30, 2006, burglary in which a 2002 Mercedes-Benz auto was stolen from a Misty Vale Road home, as well as approximately $50,000 worth of other items, including jewelry and power tools.

Greg Whitehead, 18, of 35 West Street was arrested on the charges on April 14, as were two “youthful offenders,” police said. Youthful offenders are people who are ages 16 or 17. State law shields their identities from disclosure.

On April 16, police arrested Zachary Byman, 19, of 14 Carol Ann Drive.

All four of those charged were released on written promises to appear April 27 in court.

Whitehead and Byman will be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court. The two youthful offenders will be arraigned in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.

Police said they are seeking to arrest one more male in the case.
