Misinformation Campaign Fails Court Test
Misinformation Campaign
Fails Court Test
To the Editor:
Mr DeAngelis discovered that it is one thing to make wild, unsubstantiated charges on an anonymous website and in private e-mails or even to the press, and another to prove them in a court of law.
Unfortunately for the residents and taxpayers of Newtown, all Mr DeAngelis has accomplished is to waste peopleâs time and over $50,000 of taxpayersâ money with his political campaign of misinformation. He has formed a political action committee and indicated that he wants to run for office. Perhaps this has been all about drawing attention to himself for that or some other unknown purpose. Apparently this is a family hobby, as his father has and still is engaging in almost identical activities in Middlebury and is also involved with Mr DeAngelis in Newtown.
Because Mr DeAngelis has been a party to spreading wildly inaccurate information about the Town of Newtown and the townâs honest, hardworking volunteers, we need to do more to distribute factual information, rather than his fanciful plots and we will.
Finally, after running away from his lawsuit before a judge could rule against him, Mr DeAngelis says that he canât get up in front of a crowded room and lie, but as we have seen, he has no problem lying to reporters, lying on his website, or in many of the e-mails and other documents that he produced. He claims he simply canât do it to peopleâs faces, well I think the evidence shows he has done just that.
We are tired of Mr DeAngelis and this has to stop. Does anyone really believe that the Democrats, the Republicans, hardworking town volunteers, are really anything like he claimed? Does anyone really think an Iraq war veteran and honorable man like Will Rodgers is anything like Mr DeAngelis claims? This has to stop and stop now. Mr. DeAngelis should not be given another minute of time from any Newtown residents. His 15 minutes are up.
