About 12:45 am on April 11, a 2000 Nissan Maxima driven by Brian Croaks, 24, of 30 Dodgingtown Road was traveling westward near 100 Taunton Hill Road, when while negotiating a curve, the vehicle crossed the roadâs center line, went off the eastbound road shoulder and then struck a rock and a utility pole, after which it reentered the road, police said.
Police said rear-seat passenger Frank Riccobene, 25, of Fairfield was treated for a head cut at Danbury Hospital. Front-seat passenger Matthew Socci, 21, of 16 Crossbrook Road was not injured, police said.
Police issued Croaks an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right.
Sandy Hook Thefts
Police report that sometime between 6 pm on April 11 and 7:30 pm on April 12, someone entered an unlocked shed behind a home on Tomahawk Trail in Pootatuck Park and stole an orange KTM lightweight motorcycle and a BMX racing bicycle. The two vehicles have a total value of more than $3,100. The thefts are a case of third-degree larceny, which is felony. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the thefts to contact them at 426-5841 or 270-8888.
Mt Pleasant Crash
About 5:49 am, April 16, motorist Thomas McDonald, 29, of 6 Academy Lane, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer sport-utility vehicle westward near 31 Mt Pleasant Road in rainy conditions, when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the eastbound lane and then struck a utility pole and a tree on the left side of the road, police said.
McDonald was transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. The accident is under investigation, police said.
