Four-Part Jewish History Class

SOUTHBURY — A four-part course titled “Jewish Life in America, The First Two Hundred Years” will be offered in May by The Jewish Federation.

Sessions will be held on Thursday, May 3–24, from 10 to 11:30 am each week.

The college-level class will be taught by retired Western Connecticut State University Professor Sarah Kruzansky, who will discuss how ordinary Jewish men and women met the challenge of creating Jewish life in the new world. The curriculum will cover the arrival of the first Jews in America in the late 1600s, the Westward movement, and the evolution Jewish communities up to the Civil War.

The class is a program of the JCC of Western CT and is sponsored by Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut. Tuition for all four classes is $36, and the program is open to the public. Classes will be held at The Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus at 444 Main Street North (Route 6/67).
