Dr Shawn Carney of Newtown is presenting two free public health lectures on Saturday, April 28. The first, from noon to 1 pm will be at Chamomille Natural Foods, Route 6 Plaza, 58 Newtown Road in Danbury.

Entitled, “Asthma: Natural Approaches for Patients,” Dr Carney will review how a person’s quality of life can be significantly impacted when suffering from asthma.

Dr Carney, a naturopathic physician at Northeast Natural Medicine, LLC, will describe potential causes of asthma, including inflammation, food sensitivities and environmental allergens. And he will also discuss how to identify and address these problems using natural medicines, avoidance of certain substances, dietary recommendations and lifestyle approaches.

This talk has free admission, and no registration is required.

For more information, call Chamomille at 203-792-8952.

The second talk, from 2 to 3 pm, will be at Foodworks, 477 Main Street, Clock Tower Plaza, Monroe, and will cover “Managing Lyme Disease.”

There has been a dramatic increase in reported Lyme disease cases throughout Connecticut and across the entire country over the last several years. And Dr Carney plans to discuss scientific findings about Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses, the newest testing available, and the role of integrative medicine as using effective antimicrobials, and removing barriers to wellness.
