Newtown Youth Wrestlers Shine In Vermont

Members of the Newtown Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) recently traveled to Bennington, VT to compete in the Bennington Youth Northeast Wrestling Challenge held at Mt Anthony Union High School. The long ride was well worth the trip as 22 teammates came home with trophies and medals. 

Participating and excelling for team in the elementary division were wrestlers Daniel and Robert Accomando, William Henckel, Luca Manfredi, Joseph Stoerzinger, Michael Carpenter, Cooper Curtis, Zach Robinson, Ben Watson, Sean Arnold, Adrian DeCola, Steven Leuci, Shaine Luzietti, Owen Perchuck, Evan Rooney, and Luke Wellman.

In the senior group Thomas Leuci, Edward Lovely, Alexander Stavola, Andrei Steinjann, Evan Curtis, Anthony Falbo, Andy Hubina, Russell Jacobs, and Chris Lajoie all made the trip and contributed to the team’s winning day.

The NYWA holds its practice sessions Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8 pm for the travel squad in the Sandy Hook gym and Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8 pm for the in-house squad, in the Sandy Hook cafeteria.
