Sand Hill Plaza

Police report that sometime between 1:20 and 2:30 pm on April 11, an unknown motorist, who likely was driving some type of gray vehicle, struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle in the parking lot at Sand Hill Plaza, a shopping center at 228 South Main Street (Route 25), damaging the parked vehicle.

Police ask anyone with information on the identity of the driver who left the scene of the collision to contact investigating Patrol Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Moving Violation

At about 5:33 pm on April 13, a 1994 Toyota Celica which had no front marker plate was spotted traveling eastward near 46 Church Hill Road, so police stopped the driver to investigate.

Police said they charged the driver, Matthew Tyler Gerry, 24, of 10-B Washington Avenue, with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration.

Gerry was released on a written promise to appear on May 1 in Danbury Superior Court, police said.

Rear-Ender

At about 1:33 pm on April 14, motorist Russell Bittinger, 56, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Infiniti G-35 sedan westward on Mt Pleasant Road, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn near 121 Mt Pleasant Road, when westbound motorist Carol Mahoney, 61, of 20 Diamond Drive, who was driving a 2011 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, attempted to pass the Infiniti on the right, police said.

The left side of the Toyota, however, struck the right rear corner of the Infiniti, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Mahoney a written warning for passing on the right

Berkshire Crash

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Berkshire Road about 9:28 pm on April 13.

Police said motorist Robert Ford, 32, of Hamden, who was driving a 2004 Audi A-6 sedan southward on Berkshire Road near its intersection with Paugussett Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Audi was struck from behind by southbound motorist Lori Coppa, 47, of Seymour, who was driving a 2007 Mazda MCX station wagon.

There were no injuries Coppa received an infraction ticket for following too closely, according to police.

Sugar Street

Violations

Police said they were using radar speed-monitoring equipment at about 6:34 am on April 17 on Sugar Street, near Baldwin Road, when they found that motorist Michelina Palanzo, 42, of Danbury was driving a vehicle faster than the speed limit in that area, so they stopped her to investigate.

Police said they charged Palanzo with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving with a suspended license.

After processing, police released Palanzo on a written promise to appear on May 1 in Danbury Superior Court.

Ford Vs Honda

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the three-way intersection of Mile Hill Road, Mile Hill Road South, and Wasserman Way about 1 pm on April 18.

Motorist Edward Hornyak, 86, of 3 Nunnawauk Road, who was driving a 2003 Ford van, was attempting to make a left turn from northbound Mile Hill Road South onto westbound Mile Hill Road, as motorist Angela Prata, 43, of Danbury was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot SUV westward on Wasserman Way, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they warned Hornyak for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.
