SCAN To Host Styler, April 25
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a program by Anda Styler of Sherman, who will demonstrate painting a landscape in acrylics, on Wednesday, April 25, at 1:30 pm.
This demonstration is open to the public, free of charge. It will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
The Art Collector Magazine featured Ms Stylerâs work in the June 2007 issue with a double page spread. Her painting and techniques have also been published in two books by Northlight Publishers.
Ms Styler had four large paintings commissioned and placed in the permanent collection of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, she was just published in Best of American Acrylic Painters 2012 (Kennedy Publishing), and she currently has work being featured at Harrison Gallery in Williamstown, Mass.
Ms Stylerâs work is well received because she connects to the viewer with mood and atmosphere. The artist is particularly drawn to the magic of the Litchfield Hills and the New England landscape. She captures the light in a landscape and using reality, bold color and imagination brings her picture to life.
Ms Styler earned a bachelor of arts degree from Parsons in New York City. She has won numerous awards for her work, including a recent second place finish in the Northlight Cover Competition for their catalog of books.
Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is always available from Ruth Newquist; call 203-426-6654.
