Sherman Man Arrested On Bribery ChargeÂ
State police this week arrested a Sherman man on individual counts of bribery and offering an illegal gift in connection with his allegedly seeking to bribe a judge to influence the results of a grand jury investigation into the death of the manâs wife.
On April 18, state police arrested on a warrant Dominic Badaracco, Sr, 76, of 25 Wakeman Hill Road, Sherman. Badaracco was released from custody on $150,000 bail for an April 25 arraignment in New Britain Superior Court.
In arrest documents, state police allege that Badaracco offered Superior Court Judge Robert C. Brunetti a $100,000 bribe for help in influencing the results of a grand jury probe into the death of Mary Badaracco, who disappeared at age 38 in 1984. Judge Brunetti was not a member of that grand jury.
State police consider Badaracco to be a suspect in his wifeâs death, which they have termed a homicide.
In 2007, state police did extensive excavation in the residential backyard at 15 Farrell Road in Hawleyville in searching for clues in the death of Mary Badaracco.
Armed with a search warrant, state police detectives directed state workers to remove an estimated 500 cubic yards of sandy soil from the backyard in seeking investigatory clues. They spent several weeks at the site. State police did not find Ms Badaraccoâs corpse or body parts during the excavation.
