At The Met

SOUTHBURY — Southbury Senior Center’s Afternoon At The Opera series will feature a showing of the 1994 opening night gala performance at The Metropolitan Opera. The screening will be on Wednesday, April 26, at Pomperaug Woods, 80 Heritage Road.

The program will begin at 1 pm.

The opening program featured two short operas – Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci starring Luciano Pavarotti and Puccini’s Il Tabarro starring Placido Domingo. The two famed tenors were starred with Teresa Stratas and Juan Pons, who appear in both operas.

This performance is considered one of the greatest opening nights ever at The Metropolitan Opera.

Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
