Head O' Meadow Students Vote For Books
Head O’ Meadow students cast their votes Monday, April 21, on which category of books they would like purchased for the school’s library.
The event is a yearly one at the school, and library/media specialist Bev Bjorklund said she prepared the students to cast their ballots by speaking to them about the importance of voting.
Democratic Registrar of Voters LeReine Frampton and Sharon Kish were on hand for the day, along with a voting machine. Head O’ Meadow PTA volunteers were also in the school’s library, where the machine was set up, to help students through the voting process.
The Head O’ Meadow referendum is held annually the day before the town’s budget referendum. The town’s 2014-15 budget referendum is set for Tuesday, April 22, from 6 am until 8 pm at Newtown Middle School.
Head O’ Meadow’s referendum asked the students to vote for one of two catagories of books that will be purchased for the school’s library. The “green” category included “going green” books, books about kindness, and books about sports. The orange group included books about animals and pets, the outdoors, and games.
The results for the Head O’ Meadow referendum will be announced at the school on Tuesday, April 22.
