NHS Teacher

Named Woodbury Lion Of The Year

WOODBURY — Marty Swanhall of Woodbury, an earth science teacher at Newtown High School, has been named the Woodbury Lion of the Year.

Mr Swanhall was one of 20 Lions of the Year from Litchfield and Hartford Counties who were recognized at a breakfast at The Cornucopia Banquet Hall in Torrington on March 13.

Mr Swanhall was selected for the award for his involvement in the club. During the year, he created a new website for the Woodbury Lions, www.woodburyctlions.org. He also chaired the committee that decorated the bandstand and tree on the town green during the holidays. Mr Swanhall also was involved in the Woodbury Lions’ Haunted Hayride event, which raised nearly $30,000.
