At Love & Knishes
SOUTHBURY â Four diverse music programs appealing to many tastes will spice up Love & Knishes Lunch Program on Wednesdays during May. All area adults age 60 and better are invited to make reservations to enjoy themselves with a healthful hot lunch, which is served at noon and followed by entertainment at 1 pm.
Programs take place in the Jewish Federationâs social hall at 444 Main Street North.
On May 4, singer/pianist Larry Batterâs encore appearance at Love & Knishes features old standards, show tunes, Yiddish favorites, some jazz songs, and a few jokes and stories.
On May 11, â2 Friends, 4 Hands, 1 Pianoâ unites pianists Jeanne Hinkson and John Dulina as they showcase a collection of light classical and popular pieces, as well as ragtime solos and duets and a few accordion pieces.
âSilver Voices of the Sixtiesâ is the theme on May 18 when Liz Rogers, often described as a âyoung Joan Baez,â makes her third appearance at Love & Knishes sharing songs made popular by Baez, Judy Collins, and others from the 60s and 70s, and includes some of her own original folk music as well.
On May 25, guests will enjoy the music of Bob Lupi on keyboard and vocals as he perform songs about love, including music by Nat King Cole, Sam Cooke, Jimmy Durante, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Lionel Richie, The Temptations, Engelbert Humperdink, Elvis, Paul Anka, and Bobby Darin.
Lunch reservations must be made by the Monday before each lunch. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested lunch donation of $7.50 for adults age 60 and better and $9.50 for those under 60.
