*Western CT State University had to pull the plug on hosting duties this week on next month’s two-day 2011 BOMB (Bring Our Music Back) Festival.

Headliners including WEEZER, SNOOP DOGG, GEORGE CLINTON & PARLIAMENT-FUNKADELIC, NEON TREES, STATE RADIO and dozens more – 30 national artists and more than 25 local artists will share four stages — will still take place May 28-29, but the logistics of hosting crowds the size organizers are expecting have necessitated the move of the festival to The Comcast Theatre in Hartford. “We apologize for any inconvenience,” organizers posted on their website (www.BOMBfest.com) this week. “This was an extremely difficult decision to make. During this transition our team will make every effort to answer any questions you may have. Please contact info@bombfest.com and stay tuned to www.bombfest.com or follow us on Facebook for more updates,” the statement on BOMB Fest’s home page continued.

Two-day general admission is $99, and tickets are available through TicketWeb. Visit the festival’s website for full lineup and ticket details.

*OLD SCHOOL will be on the road this weekend, beginning with a return to Proud Mary’s in Newtown on April 22, and then over at Blue Chip Restaurant in Danbury on April 23.

*A reminder this week that THE BLUE YODELS will be doing a benefit show on Saturday, April 23, at Busters Billiards, 46 Old State Road in New Milford, to benefit The 2011 Walk to Benefit Alzheimer’s (Saturday, May 7, in Harrybrooke Park, New Milford; visit www.NewMilfordWalk/kintera.org for details on that event).

This will be an early event: The Busters show will be from 2 to 6 pm. While admission is free any donations collected will be forwarded to The Alzheimer’s Association. Live music will also be performed by MARK MILLER, DON LOWE, AUSTIN GOLD, et al. There will be free pool and darks, complimentary appetizers, 50-50 cash raffles, and an auction featuring items from local businesses.

Full cash bar will be running, and soft drinks will also be available.

Children are welcome as long as they bring a parent with them.

*Also a reminder that ALISON KRAUSS & UNION STATION featuring JERRY DOUGLAS will fly their Paper Airplane Summer Tour into MGM Grand at Foxwoods on August 6  at 8 pm.  Tickets are $45, $55 and $65, and will be going on sale on April 29 at 10 am. Tickets may be purchased online at www.foxwoods.com, by calling the MGM Grand Box Office at 1-866-646-0609, by calling Ticketmaster (800-745-3000), or in person at the MGM Grand Box Office.

*GOMEZ&SADLON SMOOTH JAZZ TRIO (guitarist Thom Gomez of Oxford and Rick Sadlon of Sandy Hook) will perform their next show at The Twisted Vine in Derby next weekend.

The gentlemen have three 45-minute sets scheduled for Saturday, April 30, beginning around 8 pm.

*Also next weekend, The Ridgefield Playhouse will host an American Idol-style Band Jam on Sunday, May 1, at 4 pm. Area middle and high school bands will battle it out while raising funds for the playhouse.

The celebrity judges are David Griffith, senior vice president of Marketing for Sony Music, Ethan Carey, i95 on air personality/DJ, and keyboardist Mark Alexander (who has backed Joe Cocker, Enrique Iglesias and Meat Loaf), while entertainer and music industry professional Jay Prince of Hal Prince Music will return as the master of ceremonies.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Call the box office at 203-438-5795 or order online at www.RidgefieldPlayhouse. The Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge (parallel to Main Street) in Ridgefield.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
