WOODBURY, CONN. — The Third Annual Open Studios in a Dairy Barn at 580 Upper Grassy Hill Road will be on Saturday and Sunday, April 28–29, between 2 and 5 pm either day; see the work of five artists and talk with them. The public is welcome and admission is free.

Artists this year are:

Melody Asbury, paintings and pastels: Early in her career she focused on portraiture, later traveling out West to paint a series on Native Americans. Her paintings of animals are inspired by hands-on experiences, and The International Society of Animal Artists has recently honored her with the title “Signature Member.”

Anna Barnes, fiber: Barnes graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a BA in music. Most recently, she took a weaving workshop at the Brookfield Craft Center, studying with the late Donny Mazza, Sal Salvador, Rory Block and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown.

Christopher Clapp, landscape paintings: Clapp earned three degrees in art, followed three years teaching painting in St Louis with a postgraduate fellowship in painting in Philadelphia and two years travel and residence in France, where he began painting landscapes. One of his paintings can also be seen now in the Artwell Gallery “Show for A Show” in Torrington, Conn.

Marc Chabot, prints and drawings: Chabot is a printmaker, print dealer, draughtsman and teacher of drawing and printmaking. He is curator of the Natalie Van Vleck Collection at Flanders Nature Center. He studied art at Taft School and Skidmore College, and has exhibited at the National Academy of Design, Aldrich Museum, Mattatuck Museum and Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Chabot has been a Visiting Artist at Weir Farm, and has received an Artist Fellowship Grant from Connecticut Commission on the Arts.

M.G. Martin, batiks, prints, collages, ceramics: Martin studied art at Ohio State University, Art Students League in New York City, School for American Craftsmen at RIT, Pratt Graphic Center, and was awarded a Fulbright Grant in painting for a year working in Florence, Italy. She has had more than 20 solo exhibitions, including Westport Arts Center, Mattatuck Museum and the Washington Art Association.
