‘D.C. MODERN’ TALK ON JULY 19

AVV 1-24 #685836

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Corcoran Gallery of Art will offer a gallery talk, “D.C. Modern,” Thursday, July 19, at 7 pm, at Corcoran Bridge, given by architect and historian Judith Robinson.

The post-World War II modern era in the nation’s capital was a stimulating atmosphere in which architects, engineers, landscape architects, developers, and businesses created work with a new vision. It was a time of optimism — and the exploration of new design aesthetics, advances in building technology and social change. This talk illustrates notable buildings and landscapes that characterize the city’s development during this time period.

Corcoran Gallery of Art is at 500 17th Street NW. For information, www.corcoran.org or 202-639-1700.
