CRIS Celebrates 30 Year
In the coming months, Connecticut Radio Information System (CRIS), Connecticutâs only radio reading service, will hold several anniversary celebrations to commemorate its 30th anniversary milestone, including a fundraising luncheon at the Hartford Marriott Rocky Hill, Sunday, May 2, at 1pm, emceed by WDRC morning talk show host Brad Davis.
CRIS broadcasts news and information read from local, state, and national newspapers from five radio studios throughout the state, providing thousands of state residents with vision impairments â or other physical disabilities that prevent them from being able to handle printed material â access to publications that most individuals take for granted.
CRIS listeners receive specially tuned radios free of charge. They can also listen to CRIS programs through the telephone, most cable systems, and online at www.crisradio.org. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven day of the week.
The public is also invited to the CRIS official ribbon cutting of its new broadcast center at 315 Windsor Avenue, Windsor, on May 17, at 10 am. Tours of the Windsor radio station are scheduled during the week of May 17, from 9 am until 8 pm.
Tickets for the May 2 event are $40 per person and are available by calling CRIS Radio at 860-527-8000; or download a reservation form at CRIS Radioâs website at crisradio.org.
