Documentary And Lecture
At Bethel Cinema
The documentary Where Do the Children Play? is a one-hour movie that examines how restrictive patterns of sprawl, congestion, and suburban development are affecting childrenâs mental and physical health and development. The documentary will be presented, together with a lecture by noted educator Joan Almon, two consecutive evenings: Tuesday, April 27, at the Wilton Library, and Wednesday, April 28, at Bethel Cinema at 7 pm. The events are being sponsored by the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School along with other local schools.
The community/family event, sponsored by the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Newtown, Apple Blossom School in Wilton. and Clover Hill School in Norwalk, is being made possible to support awareness that creative play is central to early childhood, an essential pillar of the Waldorf approach to early childhood education.
Ms. Almon has more than 30-yearsâ experience as a Waldorf kindergarten teacher and consultant to Waldorf kindergartens throughout the world.
The documentary and community lecture is open to the public. A $10 donation at the door is suggested. To register for the Wilton Library event call 203-762-3950. To register for the Bethel Cinema event call the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School at 203-364-1113.
