Next SCAN Program: A Demonstration In Pastel
Rae Smith will be demonstrating in pastel at the next meeting of The Society of Creative Artists of Newtown (SCAN) when it convenes on Wednesday, April 28, at 1:30 pm. Her subject will be a goldfish pond, which is a favorite subject of hers.
All are welcome, free of charge. This program will be at Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street (at the flagpole) in Newtown.
Rae Smith has exhibited her expressive, impressionistic pastel paintings in juried exhibitions throughout the United States as well as Japan, China, and Canada. Her work has won many awards in juried exhibitions and has been published in well known art magazines and journals.
Ms Smith was elected Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America, having won more than three awards at the National Arts Club in New York City. Her popular pastels and oils range in subject, depicting goldfish ponds, the dunes of Ocean City and other local landscapes.
Ms Smith is listed in the Directory of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers and in Whoâs Who in American Art. She is presently on the teaching staff of the Katonah Art Center, Katonah, N.Y.
