Nicole Bounty, daughter of Scott and Corrine Bounty, won first place in the ceramics category during the recent Salve University, in Newport, R.I., annual Best of Salve Students juried art exhibit. Nicole is a freshman at the school and won the award for her “Sprouting Leafpot.”

Jessica Collins has been accepted into the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, N.Y., for the college’s bachelor’s degree program in baking and pastry arts management.

Casey L. McManus, daughter of Paul and Tracey McManus, was recently inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta National English Honor Society at Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Va. The honor society encourages the development of creative ability among advanced students with a major or minor in English. Eligibility for acceptance into Sigma Tau Delta includes the completion of at least two college courses in English language and literature beyond the usual requirement for general education, a 3.0 grade point average in English, and a rank in the highest 35 percent of the student’s class in general scholarship. Casey is a senior environmental science major at the college.
