Time For Tea With Sydney Eddison
Time For Tea With Sydney Eddison
The Garden Club of Newtown will celebrate the publication of noted Newtown author and gardener Sydney Eddisonâs latest book with a high tea at The Dana-Holcombe House, 29 Main Street in Newtown, on Sunday, May 2, from 3 to 5 pm.
Ms Eddisonâs presentation will begin promptly at 3:15, and her reading from Gardening for a Lifetime will be followed by tea at 4 pm. There will be time for questions after her talk and copies of the book will be available for sale.
Also present will be Kimberly Day Proctor, the illustrator of the book, who will be showing a number of her original designs. Members of the club will create flower arrangements to complement some of the illustrations.
Gardening for a Lifetime: How to Garden Wiser as You Grow Older passes on insights and wisdom gained by Ms Eddison from a lifetime of gardening. Although it is intended for gardeners who are getting older, it is also a fountain of knowledge for anyone who has a limited amount of time and energy to spend in their own garden.
The author of six other books on gardening, Ms Eddison lectures widely and has won many prominent garden awards for her work as a writer and gardener. Her very special garden has been featured in magazines and on television.
Ms Proctor has been working as a landscape designer and freelance illustrator in Connecticut for the last thirty years. The designer of many residential, corporate and public gardens, she is probably best known here in Newtown for the initial concept and garden installation at The Pleasance, the beautiful Main Street park owned by The Newtown Bee.
Tickets for the gala event are $20 and reservations are required. Check should be mailed to Garden Club President Beth Caldwell at 53 Grassy Plain Street #8, Bethel CT 06801. For more reservations or more information, contact Ms Caldwell at 203-994-4849.
