Police report a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot at the Citgo gas station/convenience store at 151 South Main Street about 5:35 pm April 5.
In that low-speed incident, motorist Frank Savo, 33, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, struck a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan driven by Brandi Spade, 27, of New Milford, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Sandy Hook Crash
About 12:24 pm on April 10, eastbound motorist Grzegorz Nalysnyk, 69, of Oxford was driving a 2003 Chevrolet truck on Berkshire Road behind eastbound motorist Michele Olam, 37, of Berkshire Road, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet van, police said.
When a noncontact vehicle, which was traveling in front of the van, slowed and started to make a left turn onto Pole Bridge Road, the van then slowed and moved toward the right, police said.
The truck then struck the van from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Nalysnyk a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Cherry Street
Motorist Kevin Stoyak, 37, of 2 Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu northward on Cherry Street about 1:33 am on April 17, encountered a deer that had run onto the road and then collided with the vehicle, police report.
Stoyak was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Ford Damaged
Between 6 and 10 pm on April 10, a 2002 Ford station wagon was parked in the parking lot near Caraluzziâs Market at 5 Queen Street. When the driver returned to the Ford, the driver found that another vehicle had apparently struck the Ford damaging it and then had driven away without reporting the collision, police said.
Police ask anyone with information on who damaged the Ford to contact them at 203-426-5841.
South Main Accident
While traveling northward near 259 South Main Street about 9:15 am April 16, motorist Marie Papp, 84, of Winton Farm Road, who was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile sedan, slowed for traffic conditions, after which the Oldsmobile was struck from behind by motorist Steven Osmolik, 19, of South Main Street, who was driving a 2005 Ford truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Osmolik an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Double Rollover
State police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 10:44 pm April 17 in which both vehicles rolled over.
The collision involved motorist Russell Farmer, 48, of Hamden, who was driving a 2004 Kia Amanti, and motorist Paulo Melo, 26, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy, state police said. The Subaru carried two passengers.
In the accident, the two traveling vehicles made contact on the highway and then the Kia went off the right road shoulder and rolled over on a grassy embankment, coming to rest on its roof, state police said.
The Subaru also went out of control and rolled over, coming to rest on its roof in the left lane of three lanes, according to state police.
Newtown ambulance volunteers transported Melo to Danbury Hospital, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.
Highway Crash
An accident involving three vehicles occurred on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 11, about 8:15 am April 16, state police said.
In that incident, a noncontact vehicle was traveling very slowly in front of a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Rosa Abzum, 45, of Breswter, N.Y., state police said.
Traveling behind the Ford were motorist Madeline Allen, 42, of 26½ Main Street, who was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza, and motorist Lillian Arena, 29, of 4 Aunt Park Lane, who was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra, state police said.
All three vehicles slowed down for the slow-moving noncontact vehicle, after which the Nissan struck the Subaru and also struck the Ford, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Road Congestion
About 2:42 pm April 14, motorist Silindile Majola, 28, of Chicago, Ill., who was driving a Nissan Altima eastward on Interstate 84, was slowing for heavy traffic conditions, when the Nissan was hit from behind by a Honda CRV driven by Christine Mallardi, 51, of Norwalk, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said they warned Mallardi for following too closely.
Off Travel Lane
Motorist Bruce Allen, 58, of Ridgefield was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, about 3:36 pm April 13, when after changing travel lanes, the Chevrolet struck some guardcabling along the right road shoulder, state police said.
Allen was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.
Suspicious Vehicle
After receiving multiple reports of a suspicious vehicle traveling slowly through the neighborhoods of Webster Place, Shut Road, and Brookwood Drive, Newtown police conducted surveillance on April 19 and then followed the Saturn coupe into Bethel, according to Bethel police.
Newtown police noticed that the driver, David Hawley, 58, of Waterbury had made a motor vehicle violation in Bethel, so they contacted Bethel police for assistance. Bethel police stopped the Saturn on Benedict Road to investigate.
Bethel police said they charged Hawley with failure to signal while making a turn and with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
Bethel police released Hawley on $500 bail for an April 27 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Case
Police report they responded to the intersection of South Main Street, Meadowbrook Road, and Botsford Hill Road about 5:08 pm April 20 to investigate a report of a two-vehicle accident.
After investigating, police charged motorist Paula King, 47, of 23 Surrey Trail with driving under the influence and with failure to grant the right of way.
Police released King on $100 bail for a May 4 court appearance.
Library Theft
Police report they arrested a New York City woman on a warrant on 17 criminal charges on April 20, stemming from her having allegedly stolen a pocketbook last August at Booth Library and then having used the victimâs credit cards.
Police said they charged Deisha Bennett, 24, of Brooklyn with 17 offenses, including third-degree burglary, illegal use of a credit card, credit card theft, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit credit card theft, conspiracy for the illegal use of a credit card, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny. Bennett was charged with multiple counts of some of those offenses.
Bennett was arraigned on the charges on April 20 in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
Bennett was being held on bail on April 21 at York Correctional Institution in Niantic for a May 18 court appearance. Bennett is facing many pending charges in five court jurisdictions in the state.
