Bus Drivers ‘Get It’

To The Editor:

I wish to thank the owner/operator bus drivers for “getting it.” Acknowledging these tough economic times, they agreed to forgo their contracted salary increases this year in the interest of Newtown’s students and taxpayers. Unlike the teachers’ union, they didn’t use threats or hang their colleagues out to dry while demanding their raises.

The bus drivers took the moral high ground.

However, without a town wide wage freeze, any increase in the budget is unjustified. I urge all Newtown taxpayers to vote No April 28.
