This year’s the Cinco De Mayo celebration will start three days early in Newtown. On Saturday, May 2, at Edmond Town Hall Theater, Treehouse Comedy Productions will put on a Cinco De Comedy Celebration starring Latino comics Andres Fernandez, Rich Ramirez (below), and Mark DeMayo. The 525-seat theater will be home for an hour and 45 minutes of funny for those who want to celebrate freedom, liberty and laughter, promises Treehouse Comedy owner Brad Axelrod.     

Andres Fernandez is flying in from Los Angeles, Calif., to head back to his East Coast roots to headline this Cinco De Comedy event. Mr Fernandez is a great storyteller, animated, likeable, and killer funny. He has appeared on Showtime’s “Latino Comedy Festival,” Comedy Central’s “Stand-Up Stand-Ups,” NBC’s “Friday Night” and “Good Day New York,” and his good looks and acting abilities have landed him appearances on daytime soaps Guiding Light on CBS, Another World on NBC, and ABC’s All My Children and One Life to Live.

Mr Fernandez’s universal brand of comedy cuts through ethnic differences. He cuts up on relationships, gender, and family, offering good clean fun.

The featured act will be New York City based comic Rich Ramirez, who has a regular reoccurring role on TV’s “Law and Order” and also has big screen experience.

Mr Ramirez has also appeared on over 20 national and cable comedy shows including appearances on Comedy Central, Showtime, A&E, VH-1 and MTV. His stand-up is wholesome, seasoned with a little musical parody, and peppered with funny. Mr Ramirez touches on the unique topic of what the comedic side of going through a liver transplant is all about, which he experienced first-hand.

The evening’s opening act is Mark DeMayo. This New York City Detective by day and comic by night is a great lift-off for this Cinco De Comedy Celebration. Just coming off the Laffapoloza Comedy Festival Tour, DeMayo has been featured on FOX TV, Showtime, and the soap As The World Turns. Mr DeMayo is featured on the recently released comedy DVD entitled “Comedy Jump-off.”

Showtime is 8:30 and tickets are priced between $17.50 and $30 for the main floor, and $17.50 and $20 for balcony seating.
