Fed Up

(The following letter sent to Board of Education regarding MTM bus contract has been received for publication. )

To the Board of Education:

This is an outrage. I don’t understand the reason for not accepting the bid by MTM.

These owner/operators live in our area. They watch over our kids like they watch over their own kids. Their bid is below the competition by $73,000. You are putting Newtown neighbors who we rely on to keep our kids safe out of work.

I am livid. Many are single moms whose dedication and caring make all the difference. If my wife is not at the stop to pick up my kid, she is given a cellphone call while the bus is still at my stop. You can’t beat this with a big impersonal company. I am fed up with the 9,000 votes to try and finance the schools for our kids. I am fed up with bureaucrats. Now this. I pay ridiculous real estate taxes to live here. I sent one of my kids to St Rose when I realized that my kid does not have air conditioning or a lunch room at Hawley. The teachers are great but the facilities are failing. Where are my taxes going? Keep it up and I will home school my kids and demand a rebate on my taxes. I will show others how to do the same. I came here for the schools. I came here for the family environment that Newtown provides. You are not looking out for the welfare of our kids. You are forcing us to leave or fight. I will fight for our kids. I question your motives and demand an explanation. I am fed up.
