Federation Feet Will Pound Pavement For Food
SOUTHBURY â Want to help in the fight against hunger? The Jewish Federation is sponsoring a team, Federation Feet, and partnering with United Way, the Connecticut Food Bank, and other groups and individuals in the annual Walk Against Hunger on Sunday, April 26, in Waterbury.
The walk kicks off from Library Park in Waterbury, with registration at 1 pm and the walk at 2 pm
âOne of our focus areas this year is community education and advocacy about the problem of hunger,â says Brownstein Jewish Family Service Director Debby Horowitz. âWeâre challenging local congregations, constituent organizations, and friends to join our team and help raise money to support our local food banks, soup kitchens, and food pantries.â
Connecticut Food Bank (CFB) supplies food products and resources to more than 650 food assistance programs such as soup kitchens, shelters, food pantries, and adult and child day care centers throughout its service area in Connecticut, which includes Litchfield and New Haven Counties, and by promoting public awareness about the problem of hunger.
In 2007, CFB distributed 15.3 million pounds of food.
