Town Players of Newtown will host auditions for I Hate Hamlet on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29. The auditions will rum from 7:30 to 9 pm each night.

In Paul Rudnick’s comedy, actor Andrew Rally’s budding television career has suddenly hit a snag with his series cancellation. He has the opportunity to perform Hamlet but doesn’t know if that’s the right thing to do. Can the ghost of Barrymore lead him down the right path?

Ruth Anne Baumgartner of Fairfield will direct.

The production calls for three men and three women.

Auditions will take place at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road in Newtown.

Actors should read the play in advance and be ready to read sides from the script. Monologues are optional. No appointment is necessary, and all roles are available.

Rehearsals will begin the week of May 4, and the production is slated to run Friday and Saturday evenings, June 27 to July 30, with three Sunday matinees. Please note there will be no performances the weekend of July 4.

A description of the characters can be found at www.newtownplayers.org/character-breakdown. All questions may be directed to info@newtownplayers.org.
