In Memory

Richard Recht

April 25, 1935 to

May 28, 2006

The flower fades,

its petals fall,

The scent lingers

but a while.

Our memory

 is last to pall,

We can recall,

perhaps, a smile.

What then,

what then of him is left?

Would One Who rose

leave us bereft?

What joy,

what happy chores in store,

We can but guess,

‘though if we knew—

Our tears would ebb,

our hearts would soar,

We’d join the

saintly retinue.

Our praise to God

would be the same.

All thanks to Him,

Most Precious Name.

Carol Diem Recht, 1964
