Pamela Davis Named New Executive Director
At Silvermine Guild Arts Center
NEW CANAAN â E. Roger Williams, co-chairman of The Silvermine Guild Arts Center (SGAC) board of directors, announces the appointment of Pamela Davis as the new executive director of Silvermine. Ms Davisâ appointment concludes a successful national search which began in November. She will begin her position as SGACâs Executive Director in early May.
âPam Davis ⦠is a great fit for Silvermine, both today and tomorrow,â said Mr Williams. âWe are confident that we have chosen the right person to bring a strategic focus and strong management skills to our 85-year-old arts center. We went through an extensive search process to ensure we selected the best candidate. The search committee was comprised of current and former SGAC trustees.
âPamâs background in the arts and education as well as finance combined with her leadership skills made her the ideal candidate,â he continued. âUnder her leadership we are confident that SGAC will continue to be a vital arts resource to our region and will be well positioned for growth.â
Ms Davis will assume management leadership for SGAC, a nonprofit arts organization. Founded in 1922, SGAC serves a 350-plus member Guild of Artists, exhibits established and emerging artists in Silvermine Galleries, offers year-round art classes to more than 6,000 students of all ages in the Silvermine School of Art, presents a summer music program, and offers an art outreach program in area schools. SGAC is also home to the prestigious Art of the Northeast art competition that opens this year on May 4.
Ms Davis replaces Cynthia Clair, who resigned last October after an eight-year tenure.
Ms Davis has served on the boards of Norwalk Land Trust, Rowayton Arts Center, King & Low-Heywood Thomas School in Stamford. She has also been president of The Brooklyn Childrenâs Museum, chief credit officer at American Express, and a senior vice president in the investment banking division of Lehman Bros.
She earned a bachelorâs degree from Boston College and an MBA from Columbia University. She has been a student at Silvermine School of Art and is an artist member of Rowayton Arts Center.
Ms Davis and her family reside in Rowayton.
Silvermine Guild Arts Center was founded in 1922 and has operated continuously since that time in its current location at 1037 Silvermine Road in New Canaan.
