Boys U14

Greenwich 7, Strikers 4 – With just seven players on the field, the Strikers were out-numbered but hung tough against Greenwich. A hat-trick by Aaron Nezvesky and a goal from George Delia completed the scoring for the Strikers. Russell Morgan, Michael Carrafiello and Ryan Pasko all had assists and battled hard throughout the game. Daniel Hufziger played well in the midfield and Liam Ferguson played strongly in goal in the second half, making a series of good saves.

 

Boys U12

Enfield 2, Cobras 1 – Christian Mather scored the lone Newtown goal in the opener of the Colchester Spring Soccer Classic. Pieter Martino, Nick Barreto and Nick Gerbo led a strong midfield presence. Sean Elliott and Chris Erikson shared keeper duty.

Cobras 5, Blackbear United (Maine) 0 – Christian Mather, Chris Erikson, Connor Quinn, Andrew Kelley and Ian Solaski netted a goal apiece to lead the Cobras to a win at the Colchester Spring Soccer Classic. Eric Fiore added two assists. Danny Bittman, Sam Langdon and Patrick Thornberg dominated midfield play while Noah Sock, Matt Rahtelli, Drew Sullivan and Stephen Conway fortified the backfield.

NOTE: Day 2 of the tournament was canceled by the nor’easter.

Girls U12

Flash 5, Monroe 0 – Brittany Tolla scored two goals while Amy Martin, Christina Gould and Tressa Scott scored a goal apiece to seal the win for the Flash. Lindsay Jossick and Melissa Buccino controlled offense while the defense played ball control and did not allow a shot on goal. Kristy Papaj, Morgan Kirol, Kristen Grabowski and Jenna Hindes played tough D.

Girls U11

Jaguars 3, Stamford 2 – Reagan Cerney netted a hat trick, with one score coming off a pretty assist from Tess Murray, to lead the Jags. Abi Kuligowski played excellent defense and goalie Danielle Shine preserved the win with several outstanding saves.

Boys U10

Fairfield 2, White Lightning 0 – Sawyer Conrad, Kaj Djonne, Kevin Droniak, Brenton Scott and Clay Gattey led the offense in a loss to Fairfield. Kevin Ovendorf played an outstanding game in goal making many diving saves.

Boys U14

Meteors 6, Dynamite 1 – RJ Ronan scored three goals to lead the Meteors to the win. Kieran Lardner scored a goal and registered four assists while Chad Cullens and Jeff Hoffman scored one goal each. Eric Pisani scored the lone goal for the Dynamite. Mac Morlock had a strong game in goal and along with Ryan Pisani helped spur the offense in the second half. On defense, William Carr played an outstanding game.

Wolves 2, TNT 1 – Vinnie Brophy and Evan Swain each scored a goal while Sean Watkins hustled in midfield and Jonah McKeown anchored a strong defense to lead the Wolves. For the TNT, Chris Arnone scored off an assist from Peter Kerns. Blake Obre-Untiedt played well in defense as Hunter Bassett anchored the midfield. Fredrik Dean had a strong game.

Liverpool 8, Golden Toasters 5 – Gavin Scallon scored three goals to pace Liverpool. Alex Neufeld, Jake Locorotondo and Reid Higham played well in the midfield. For the Toasters, Francis Saracini scored three goals as Patrick Riccardi and Tyler Ruefenacht scored a goal apiece. Jared Wray played well.

Girls U14

Hurricanes 3, Turf Trashers 2 – Samantha Whitley scored twice and Elena Unschuld scored once to lead the Hurricanes to the win. Kyra Smith had an assist. Whitley, Samantha Lew, Rachel Karnoff and Alyssa Kneski all played great in goal. For the Trashers, Katie Cummings and Kaitlyn Connolly scored the goals.

Boys U10

Dynamite 3, Team Poarch 2 – In a closely contested match, Connor Miller scored three goals to lead the Dynamite to victory. Paul O’Leary and Patrick Berger played a very strong game on both offense and defense and Michael Berko played a solid all around game.

Red Bulls 1, Oskars 1 – Jordan Abraham knocked in the goal, Bradley Kretz and Alex Gerbo played tremendous defense and Ryan Szalay was outstanding in goal to lead the Bulls. For the Oskars, Albert Dean scored the goal as Dillon Palumbo played a great overall game, and Alec Hess was stellar in goal.

Girls U10

Twisters 6, Shockers 1 – Paige Thanasoulis scored three goals and Katie Mossbarger added two more to lead the Twisters. Jenna Hansen had a goal while Maggie Kost and Mikayla Kuligowski provided assists. For the Shockers, Helene Sorensen scored a goal with an assist from Catherine McHugh. Danielle Aguugliaro played great on defense and Faith Pereira and Christina DeBartolomeo were solid in goal.

Tie-Dyed Tigers 6, Rockets 1 – Kerry Scallon and Meghan Grimes had two goals apiece  to lead the Tigers to the win. Emily Grimes and Aoife Flanagan also scored as Ashley Marks was strong on defense. For the Rockets, Nicole Mendonca scored the lone goal off an assist from Makenzie Casey. Brianna Baranowski played a solid second half in goal.

Girls U8

Rockets 3, Mustangs 2 – Caitlyn Linden scored two goals and Brittney Antous added one to lead the Rockets to the win. Sarah Carter and Zoe Lucen put forth a solid offensive effort. For the Mustangs, Nevan Gattey and Lauren Beier scored the goals as Chloe Rogalin had an assist and Hailey Conrad and Lauren King controlled the midfield.

Pink Panthers 3, Huskies 0 – Katie Reilly, Kelly Merrick and Jada Farrington all scored to lead the Panthers to the win. For the Huskies, Celia Gold, Erin Tressler and Sydney Johnson played well.

Killers 5, Team (#8) 3 – Anna Biondi and Mackenzie Macchiarulo scored two goals apiece to lead the Killers to the win. Avery Higham also scored while Danielle Mola was strong on D.

Skunks 5, Fighting Irish 2 – Molly Begg and Cassidy Keller scored a goal apiece to lead the Skunks. Claire Boyle played a great game in goal. For the Fighting Irish, Julia Scarangella and Lauren Villamana each scored a goal as Alexis Tucker and Brianna Straiton played fantastic on both sides of the ball.

Boys U8

Tigers 3, Flying Tornadoes – Tony Leonardi scored two goals and registered an assist to lead the Tigers to the win. Grant Obre-Untiedt added a goal and an assist while Liam Batzer and Christopher Blanco both played very well in goal. For the Tigers, Jocab Ernos and Chris Anesi powered the offense as Cory Brodsky played well in goal.

Torpedoes 4, Patriots 0 – James Carney and Chris Hill scored two goals apiece to lead the Torpedoes. Conrad Reilly and Noah LaFerriere had outstanding defensive games to preserve the shutout. Sebastian Forrero and Jacob Muller played well for the Patriots.

Lightning Bolts 4, Team (#10) 1 – Zach Van De Weerdt and Matthew Bucci both scored two goals to lead the Bolts. Ryan Norton and Ben Dieckman played strong on defense as Andrew Janco and Cooper Buonocore played well on offense. For Team #10, Sam Duffy scored the lone goal as Peyton Manning and Jacob Branchflower were solid on offense. Jack Vaughn played well offensively.

Team (#7) 4, Blasters 0 – Josh Houle scored two goals with Jamie Cochrane and Richard Ciamarra each adding another to lead Team #7 to the win. Evan Eggleston played well. For the Blasters, Kelland Chrystie and Jack Riley played well on offense as Ryan Harvey paced the defense and Nathan Augenbraun had an overall good game.
