Newtown Gold 17, Cheshire Black 4: Bridget Walsh and Anna Buzzanca combined for 7 saves splitting time in the goal while Newtownâs defense, led by Celia Gold, Meg Kelleher, Dori Farley and Katie Cappelli, was outstanding. Farley also hustled to get a team-high 6 ground balls. Lauren Zimmerman and Maddy Bridges each had three assists. Goals were scored by Bridges, Nicole Zaccaro, Brittany Meisenheimer, Briana Sclafani, Meghan Doyle, Julia Wiberg, Jess Maturo, and Zimmerman.
Newtown Gold 10, New Fairfield 9: Bridget Walsh made 9 saves as the Senior Gold team defeated New Fairfield in a very close game which came down to the final seconds. Julia Wiberg led the midfielders by hustling her way to 5 ground balls and Julia Sughrue led the team by setting up her teammates with 3 assists. The defense, led by Celia Gold, was outstanding in limiting the chances for New Fairfield to score. Goals were scored by Meghan Doyle, Sughrue, Maddy Bridges, Nicole Zaccaro, Jess Maturo, and Lindsay Hoyt.

Boys Grade 8
Gold 11, Monroe 1: Nine boys scored, showing great team work and moving the ball around in the effort. Matt Meyers led the scoring with 3 goals, an assist and picked up 6 ground balls. Kristopher Whelan had a goal, 3 assists and 4 grounders. Jared Pearson had a goal, 2 assists and 6 ground balls. Owen Grey and Jeremy Salaris split time in goal. Newtownâs defense, led by Gordon Walsh with 5 grounders, Charlie Fletcher, Christian Morlock and Nick Samuelson, kept the ball on Monroeâs side for the majority of the game.
Blue 6, Bethel 4: The boys, having 7 first-year players on the team, started off slowly. Adam Webber assisting his brother Max Weber to open up the scoring for Newtown. Devon Luzietti and David Anderson each added a goal and the score was tied midway through the fourth quarter. Sean McCarthy came to play. He recorded six ground balls and scored 3 times.
