He is also survived by his daughter Marilyn Doyle, and husband Judson, of Newtown and son Stephen, and his wife Patricia, of New Fairfield; his seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He served five years as a second class petty officer in the US Coast Guard during World War II and was present for the Armistice in August of 1945. Prior to the war, Mr Bulan was a competitive tennis player and won the All-New York City Championship. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on his New York Yankees, New York Giants and his favorite collegiate team, St Johnâs Red Storm
He was a plant manager, working for New York City Health and Hospital Corporation for more than 20 years and after moving to Connecticut, he became the facilities manager for General DataComm in Middlebury, until his retirement.
Among his favorite pastimes were gardening, dancing, and singing. He was known to be found singing his favorite tunes in his humorous âIrishâ brogue.
