Teens’ Birthday Party Raised Over $2,000

For The March Of Dimes

In just a few hours on April 5, during their 13th birthday party at The Stone River Grille, good friends Allie Muzzio and Hannah Luby helped raise more than $2,000 for The March of Dimes Foundation.

The girls, both students at Newtown Middle School, were recently involved in a cheer competition at a March Of Dimes Fundraiser and were very touched about what they learned. They, too, wanted to help premature babies get the best care possible.

So, Allie and Hannah decided to co-hostess a birthday party, and knowing they could have easily gotten lots of gift cards and other presents, decided to instead ask their friends for $13 donation to The March of Dimes in lieu of birthday presents. Their friends and family didn’t let them down.

On April 17, the girls went to the Greater Fairfield County Division office of The March of Dimes, located in Fairfield. There they met Community Director Dana Roth, and presented her with a check for $2,013, the final result of their birthday efforts.

“On behalf of the March of Dimes, we would like to thank Allie Muzzio and Hannah Luby for their generosity and dedication to the health of babies! Families in Fairfield County and across the country will benefit from their philanthropy,” said Ms Roth. “It is wonderful to see young people being so enthusiastic about fundraising. We believe they are the youngest fundraisers we’ve ever had!”
