*Georgetown Saloon is pretty happy now that DOUG WAHLBERG has decided to return to music following a six month hiatus from live performances. The saloon (in the Georgetown section of Redding) will host the Sandy Hook residentâs first live show since last year.
Between that eveningâs show and the fact that the Saloon will be hosting one of its Bloody Mary & Mimosa Brunch events earlier in the day, Iâd say May 21 would be a very good day to head to Georgetown.
*Fairfield Theatre Company announced last week that ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, in which Dweezil Zappa and a seven-piece band perform the work of the late Frank Zappa, will return to Connecticut this summer.
Tickets for the July 29 at Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport went on sale last Sunday (sorry, the show and tickets werenât announced until Thursday morning), and are available for $35 to $57 through FTCâs website (www.FairfieldTheatre.org) and from the box office, 203-259-1036.
*Next month FTC will host a benefit concert being billed as âRock, Soul & Survivorship: A Band Together Concert for the Benefit of Connecticut Challenge.â The May 12 event will feature rock by BLUE OYSTER CULT founder Joe Bouchard, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE BAND lead singer Christine Ohlman (equally famous for her beehive hair), and singer and âblues guitar monsterâ Charlie Karp along with musicians Lyris Hung, Tyger MacNeal, Rachel Ulrich, Pat Marafiote, Jerry Vigorito and Rob Fried.
Tickets are $29, with all proceeds to benefit the all-volunteer network CT Challenge (www.CTchallenge.org), a 501(c)3 non-profit that has been working to âempower cancer survivors to live healthier, happier and longer livesâ since 2004.
*If you purchase lawn tickets this weekend for the just-announced August 13 KINGS OF LEON show at The Comcast Theatre you can get them for $20 a pop. After this weekend the prices will increase to $26.
Tickets go on sale Friday morning (April 29) for that show, which will include an opening set by Band of Horses. Tickets will be $30-$60 for reserved seating, and $60 for general admission pit, regardless of when you get them, and will be available through www.LiveNation.com.
Until next week, Iâll be seeing you⦠on the road.
