To NYFS Little Sweethearts Ball
Newtown Youth & Family Services is holding its Little Sweethearts Ball, Friday, June 4, at Capellaroâs Grove in Bethel. Proceeds from this event will help NYFS continue its mission of helping people reach their highest potential by providing the premier mental health and social services available in Western Connecticut.
The Little Sweethearts Ball will provide girls in grades Kâ6 the opportunity to dress up and celebrate with a special adult in their lives. Running from 6 to 9 pm, attendees will feast on hors dâoeuvres and a buffet dinner, followed by dancing to music provided by DJ John Voket.
Each girl will receive a tiara, a long-stem rose and a 5-by-7-inch picture to take home. Tickets are $75 for one adult and one girl. An adult can bring up to three girls in total for an additional charge of $35 per girl.
âIn addition to being a fundraiser, the Little Sweethearts Ball is an opportunity for NYFS to foster the development of youth,â said Beth Agen, executive director, Newtown Youth & Family Services. âSpecifically, the ball will foster family support, positive adult role models, and creative activities.â
Although the recession appears to be ending, money is still an issue for many families in the area. The economic uncertainty has escalated the need for NYFS services.
Increasingly, area for-profit providers are discharging clients and referring them to NYFS because the clients have lost their insurance. It is through events like the Little Sweethearts Ball and generous supporters that the agency is able to provide a continuum of care to area families in need.
NYFS is the only agency in Connecticut that is licensed by the Department of Public Health as a substance abuse treatment and outpatient psychiatric treatment facility for adults and the Department of Children and Families as an outpatient treatment facility for youth and accredited by the Council on Accreditation.
The agency also serves children and adults regardless of ability to pay.
Space is limited for this event, so early registration is suggested. For more information or to make reservations, contact NYFS at 203-270-4335.
