Spring Blooms On View At Koenig FrameWorks

Koenig FrameWorks received more than 100 entries when it recently hosted a competition for its Spring Photography Show. “Blooms,” the resulting collection of photographic works by regional artists, will have its opening reception on Friday, April 30, from 6 to 9 pm.

Jurors Brad Stanton and Carl Hebert will be judging the show this week, and their selections for first through third place, along with honorable mentions, will be made during the show.

The competition for “Blooms” was open to all photographers age 18 and older. Black and white, and color, in film and digital, were all accepted.

Submissions were to be of any flowering plants, trees, shrubs, etc in bloom. There were no restrictions as to setting/location or time of year. The photographers were encouraged to be creative.

As a result, at least five wall spaces have been filled with brilliant prints depicting closeup and full shots of flowers, vases of flowers, a single daisy blooming in front of a wood bench, a horse sniffing at a flower, and even a colorful cowboy boot with a Gerbera daisy and hibiscus peeking from its top are among the entries.

Photographers were to submit their photos without matting or frames, and Koenig has provided cream colored matting for all entries, providing a consistent presentation.

All photographs included in “Blooms” will be available for purchase.

The exhibition will be on view until May 29. Koenig FrameWorks, at 97 South Main Street (Route 25), can be reached at 203-270-1887 for additional information. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
