Treehouse Comedy To Host TV Warm-Up Comics

DANBURY — A TV Warm-Up Comic’s job is to get people who are there to see a television program show live, in a great, upbeat mood, before they see the true star of the television broadcast. A great warm-up comic can jumpstart a studio audience from nothing to something and does it right from the get-go.

He or she has to have a great energy, so, as soon as they hit the stage they have captivated and engaged their television audience with positive and instantaneous results. Sound like a science? In a way it is: These TV Warm-Up Comics have to be 100 percent hitters or the mega-stars won’t keep them around, and Treehouse Comedy has three of them for one live performance.

Joey Kola, RC Smith and Richie Byrne are three of the best longstanding warm-up comics in the business. Kola currently does warm-up for Jerry Seinfeld’s The Marriage Ref and for media mogul Martha Stewart for The Martha Stewart Show, Smith is the warm-up comic for The Rachael Ray Show, and Byrne takes care of the audience for The Dr Oz Show.

Treehouse Comedy will host these three comedians on Saturday, May 8, at the Holiday Inn, 80 Newtown Road in Danbury.

Showtime is 9 pm and tickets are $19.50.

This show is not just a traditional stand-up comedy performance. It’s an hour and forty-five minutes of stand-up, stories and backstage gossip, along with a question and answer portion of the show completely audience interactive.

A TV Warm-Up Comic not only has to work regularly around the stars of their shows but also has to work with and around the guest stars of big budget television shows as well. That’s where the backstage stories and behind-the-scenes gossip make it into the live performance.
