Altered Books Workshop: Old Books, New Art
Altered Books Workshop:
Old Books, New Art
DANBURY â Take a break from spring cleaning and visit Danbury Library to release your inner creativity with an unusual art project.
On Thursday, May 7, from 6 to 7:30 pm, artist Katie Stevenson will lead a group in taking books and transforming them into works of art, called altered books. Using many different techniques such as sanding, painting, collaging, cutting, tearing, embellishing and adhering, each participant will create a personalized âartist book.â
The library will provide a book or participants may bring along their own. In addition to the supplies provided by the library, participants are encouraged to bring along their own small personal photographs or photocopies and small treasures such as ticket stubs, buttons, coins, and other keepsake odds and ends.
The program is free but enrollment is limited, so registration is required; call 797-4528. Â
