Beloved Father

And Grandfather

Jacob J. “Jack” Katz, 82, of Fairfield, devoted husband of the late Harriet Katz, died April 21. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., April 23, 1926, he was the son of Abraham and Tillie K. Katz.

He is survived by two children, including Susan Hirsh of Newtown; and four grandchildren.

A World War II Army Air Corps Veteran, Mr Katz was vice president of the Fruit of the Loom Underwear Co. He was an active ham-radio operator, and had formerly been involved in Civil Defense. He was a volunteer with the Hospital of St Raphael’s “Take Heart Program,” and he also volunteered in several hospitals in Florida.

Funeral services were held April 26. Funeral arrangements were in care of the Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, New Haven.
