NHS Girls’ Lacrosse Team Beats Weston
Newtown High School’s girls’ lacrosse team visited Weston and came home with an 11-3 win on April 29.
Natalie McLean scored three goals, Jen Socci had two goals, two assists, and three ground balls, and Brooke Bulkley logged two goals, two assists, and had a pair of ground ball scoops in the win. Blake Heim-Sherwood had an assist and five ground balls, Jenna Lagan recorded a goal and an assist, and Gabby O’Sullivan netted a goal.
Mo Murphy led a strong effort on the defense end and picked up two ground balls, Sarah Ruddy had a strong defensive performance and scooped four ground balls, and Kayla Locke and Ella Macey each had solid defensive performances and two ground balls. Goaltender Emily Sachs made ten saves.
“The team did a great job coming up with the loose 50-50 balls and worked together to secure the win,” Coach Stephanie Suhoza said.
NHS, which had its April 24 matchup with Notre Dame Prep postponed, improved to 6-3 overall this spring.
The Nighthawks, after visiting Cheshire Friday, May 1 at 6 pm, return home to play Joel Barlow of Redding Monday, May 5 at 7 pm in the 15 For Life game.
