Hitchens Is Visiting Kissinger Country

WASHINGTON DEPOT — On Saturday, May 12, Christopher Hitchens will be in Washington Depot to talk about his book, The Trial of Henry Kissinger (Verso Books), at Hickory Stick Book Store.

Approximately two years ago, The New York Times on that about 40 locals who demonstrated outside a book signing by Mr Kissinger, who has a home in Kent. They questioned his role in the Vietnam War, General Pinochet’s Chile, East Timor and other foreign affairs.

Mr Hitchens’ critique of the former Secretary of State pushes the debate about Mr Kissinger’s record further than has ever been done before.

Mr Hitchens will speak and sign copies of his book at Hickory Stick Book Store on Saturday, May 12. A reception for Mr Hitchens will then take place from 4 to 6 pm at 14 Green Hill Road, just up from the book store on Route 47. Look for the British flag outside. The book store is on Route 47.

In coming to the small town of Washington Depot, Mr Hitchens, who lives in Washington, D.C., will be making his case against Henry Kissinger right on Mr Kissinger’s door step.

(Mr Kissinger will return for his own book signing on June 16.)
