Richard T. Mahoney, Sr

Richard T. Mahoney, Sr, 89, of New Milford, husband of Aline (Mages) Mahoney, died May 4 at New Milford Hospital.

He was the father of Colette Polard of Newtown.

Born in Norwalk and a resident there until 1985, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Beesley) Mahoney. A retired salesman in the food industry, he was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Gaylordsville Grange.

In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by six sons, Richard T.  Mahoney, Jr, of Havelock, N.C., Daniel Mahoney of New Fairfield, Kevin Mahoney of Orangevale, Calif., Dennis Mahoney of Ridgefield, Damien Mahoney of Watertown, and Matthew Mahoney of Kent; four other daughters, Aline Spanier of Ocala, Fla., Patricia Wendling of Piscataway, N.J., Judith Socci of Norwalk, and Michelle Speier of Springfield, Va.; 33 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Mahoney, and brother, Kenneth Mahoney.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 7 in St Matthew Church, Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Interment followed in St John Cemetery, Norwalk.

The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, was in charge of arrangements.
