Celebrity Breakfast To Benefit Thresholds Shelter

DANBURY — Noted Danbury surgeon and addiction prevention advocate Henry Blansfield, MD, will be the featured speaker at the fourth Annual Celebrity Breakfast to benefit Thresholds Women & Children Shelter on Tuesday, May 22, 7:30 to 9 am, at the Amber room on Stacey Road in Danbury.

Local business and civic leaders will serve breakfast and collect the tips to benefit Thresholds, the only shelter in the region providing 24-hour a day emergency housing for homeless women and children.

“In addition to his outstanding career in surgery, Dr Blansfield has served the greater Danbury area as an outspoken advocate for addiction prevention and rehabilitation programs. His commitment to men and women suffering from substance abuse has earned local and national recognition and set the agenda for addressing this critical problem in the community,” said attorney Robert Carlsen of Danbury, president of the Thresholds Advisory Board.

“Substance abuse is a condition that underlies many social problems and serves as a barrier to individuals leading independent and productive lives. Dr Blansfield speaks with great authority and conviction and we look forward to his remarks,” said Mr Carlsen.

Mr Carlsen, who is chairing this year’s Celebrity Breakfast along with his wife, Patti, said last year’s event raised $10,000 for the women’s shelter.
