*I owe the guys in TREBLEHOOK an apology for not getting more information into the paper sooner for them. The Sandy Hook-based acoustic trio is back on the road this weekend with a show at Sweet Harmony’s Coffee House in Marble Dale. Hop on Route 7, pick up Route 202 and go through New Milford and into Marble Dale, then watch for the church at the signal light on the corner of Route 202 and Wheaton Road.

Showtime is 8 pm, and there will be an opening set by Dave Aston. Treblehook — Alan Morgan, Brian Morgan and Andy Spencer — will then be performing. Admission is $5, and if you bring your own coffee cup the coffee is free. Details, call 860-868-2275.

*Consider this your final reminder concerning MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES, who will be the big local show on Saturday. The boys will be at Ives Concert Part, on the westside campus of Western CT State University in Danbury, for a mid-afternoon concert on Saturday. The May 12 show is this year’s big music feature for WestFest 2001. For last minute tickets ($18) and other information, visit the WCSU Student Center, 181 White Street in Danbury, or ant TicketMaster outlet.

The concert will be held rain or shine. Alcohol and open containers will not be allowed on or near the location of the event. Neither will recording equipment of any kind. Gates open at 10 am, and there will be a number of live bands performing all afternoon. I have heard that the Bosstones are bringing in a band to play a set before their own set, but that may just be a rumor. What is confirmed is the list of four local bands who will start the big event: SEEKING HOMER, X-IT, SILENCER and FACIAL.

*When tickets go on sale this weekend for ROD STEWART’s August 10 concert at Meadows Music Centre in Hartford, I know they’ll have at least one big-ticket purchaser. My friend Mary Ellen is not only a huge fan of ol’ Rod, but she has become quite the concert chick this year. ME just returned from a week in Atlanta  where she attended the ELTON JOHN-BILLY JOEL “Face To Face” concert at Philips Arena.

So when she found out this week that one of her all-time favorites is returning to Connecticut for the first time in a few years (the singer hasn’t been on the road at all since 1999), ME started talking about picking up a pair of the $107.75 tickets. Those are the big-ticket seats for the pavilion; the remainders will be priced at $57.75 and $82.75. Lawn seats are $27.75. A charity donation is included in each ticket price. Tickets will be available beginning at 10 am Saturday, May 12, through ctnow.com or any of its ticket outlets, which include all Strawberries stores.

*I have some great ADRIAN LEGG news this week. The incredibly talented guitarist and raconteur will not only be at Towne Crier Café in Pawling, NY, this Friday night (if tickets are still available, they are $20 apiece; call 845-855-1300), but he is also the latest big catch for Acoustic Café in Bridgeport. Legg continues to tour in support of his 1999 Red House Records release, fingers and thumbs. Adrian Legg is one of the coolest, most intelligent and talented people I have ever met. Get to his show early and stay to the end. He’ll have you alternating between laughing and watching his performance in awe from start to finish.

The Bridgeport show is on Saturday, May 26, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are just $15 for this, and I would call ahead for a reservation considering the status of Legg and the size of the venue (smallish). The café is at 2926 Fairfield Avenue and can be reached by calling 203-335-3655.

This weekend the café is featuring LAURA WARFIELD with Dan Labich on Saturday for this month’s installation of the WPKN Benefit Concert (9 pm, $10). Later this month the stage will host ANDY IF on May 16 (8:30 pm, $5), and LUCY KAPLANSKY on May 20 at 4 pm ($20).

*DICAST has replaced STERVES OF NEIL as the openers for the May 25 CANDIRA show at Toad’s Place in New Haven.

*JANET JACKSON’s show at Hartford Civic Center has been moved back from August 14 to August 11. It’s still at the civic center, and tickets with the orginal date will be honored on the 11th.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks, c/o Bee Publishing Co., 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown 06470, or shannon@thebee.com; or call The Bee office at 426-3141.

Shows listed on the calendar at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
