Zuzu African Acrobats Visit Middle Gate Elementary School
Students inside Middle Gate Elementary School’s gymnasium on Tuesday, April 28, cheered, clapped, and sometimes participated with the Zuzu African Acrobats performance, which was sponsored by the school’s PTA.
Middle Gate Principal Chris Geissler said at the start of the assembly that he was thrilled the school’s PTA was sponsoring the event, because, as he said, he first learned about the Zuzu African Acrobats through an e-mail. He said his first reaction was, “That’s pretty cool.”
He shared the e-mail with PTA member Debbie DeBlasi, and Mr Geissler said she too responded with, “That’s pretty cool.”
Mr Geissler said the Zuzu African Acrobats happened to be traveling through the area, so the school was able to set up the assembly.
Mr Geissler also told his students that the group had been on the television show America’s Got Talent and it travels around the world.
Just before the acrobats were introduced, Mr Geissler readied his students for a “high energy… high flying” performance.
The Zuzu African Acrobats performed a number of tricks, like balancing on stacked chairs while performing handstands, intricate jump rope techniques, and balancing on each other in a number of different configurations.
The group also led staff and students through dancing under a limbo stick.
More information about the group is available online on its Facebook Zuzu African Acrobats page and on the group's website.
