For the Wolverines, Kristen DeCesare and Alicia Rogers led the defense while Emma MacHugh played well on offense.
VICTORY 3, HAWKS 2: Caitlin (Cat) Williams scored a pair of goals and Elaine McCafferty added another to lift the Victory to a rousing, 3-2 win over the Hawks. Emma MacHugh provided an assist as Taylor Johns was aggressive in the midfield and Laura Schroeder was solid in net. Caitlin Norcross, Olga Virgalla and Alicia Williams played well on defense. For the Hawks, Meghan Kelley and Diana Rawson scored the goals as Elaine Bomely, Shayna Mesko and goaltender Wendy Borst anchored the defense.
TITANS 1, DYNAMITE 1: Lindsay Chimileski of the Titans and Sally Tabler of the Dynamite scored the lone goals of this game. For the Titans, Erin Daily and Sarah McSweeney played well. For the Dynamite, Amber Finlayson and Danielle Nicolosi were strong in the midfield.

DESTROYERS 1, SHOOTING STARS 1: Christina Sanchez of the Destroyers and Sarah Shannon of the Shooting Stars scored the only goals in this 1-1 deadlock. For the Destroyers, Taylor Truchness and Lilly McHugh both had good games. For the Stars, Jordyn Good had the assist while Meredith Letso and Katelyn Vayan played well.

TORNADOES 3, ROADRUNNERS 2: Neris Halil scored a pair of goals while Matthew Yakush added one to lead the Tornadoes to the win. John Sapienza and Kevin Dufner anchored the defense. For the âRunners, Peter Griffths and Jeff Brown scored the goals. Vince LaFrancesca also played well on offense and Stephen Ashbolt and Nick Ciarelli led the defense.
 EAGLES 4, PANTHERS 1: Ricky Gallucci scored two goals while Jacob Dauz and David Manville scored one apiece to lift the Eagles. Nathan Barrett and Kyle Kimball played great defense. For the Panthers, Michael Cagganello scored the lone goal while Max Baudisch and Kyle Hensel led the defense and Stephen Gardner did a great job in goal.
 COYOTES 3, LIGHTNING 1: George Zaruba scored two goals and Joe Cappiello added one to lead the Coyotes to the win. Kyle Droniak played solid on offense and Kurt Koloniaris led the defense. For the Lightning, Ryan Huddock scored the goal while Steven Jaroszewski played well on offense. Colin Tredger anchored the defense.

FALCONS 5, WOLFPACK 1: Eric Thornberg scored three goals to lead the Falcons past the Wolfpack. Andy Lapple and Joshu Gilbert also scored while Kyle Kromberg provided a pair of assists. For the Wolfpack, Marc Bonacci scored the goal while Jamie Radcliffe, Tim Roberts, and Ashwin Ramaswami played well.
TIGERSHARKS 6, ROCKETS 1: The hungry T-Sharks exploded this week behind the two-goal performance of Patrick Svitek and the two-goal performance of Andre Capozziello. Trevor Todd and Scott Wexler each chipped in with goals of their own. Assists were recorded by William Arndt, Dan OâConnor, Trevor Todd and Christian Gregoire. Lewis Thompson shut down a powerful Rocket attack with great saves in goal. For the Rockets, Richard Andreotta netted a goal. Kevin Carney and Henry Helgren both played strong games.
RAPTORS 3, TORPEDOES 1: Chris McCann, Evan Kennedy and Daniel Lynch scored the goals that lifted the Raptors to the win. Jeff DiNicola and Todd Walter both played well. For the Torpedoes, Daniel Clement scored the goal as Patrick Fay and Benjamin Miles played well.
TORNADOES 4, FLYING ALIENS 0: Tory Deakin scored three goals and Ryan Donnegan added another as the Tornadoes defeated the Aliens. Tim Wilmot and Shane Casey both played well on defense. For the Aliens, Matt Williams, Andy Hsu and Logan Rodgers led the offense.
DRAGONS 4, WOLFPACK 0: Joe Christiano scored twice for the Dragons while Sam Hoagland and Ben Morrison each added one apiece. Nick Wolf and Chris Miller also played well for the Dragons. The Wolfpack offense was fueled by aggressive play from Ashwin Ramaaswami and Tim Roberts with Jacob Barrett and Mark Bonacci both anchoring the defense.
ROADRUNNERS 3, WOLVERINES 2: Austin Baldour scored to break a 2-2 tie in the fourth quarter as the Roadrunners overcame the Wolverines in a well-played game. Nicolas Nazer and Aaron Nezvesky scored the Wolverine goals in the first quarter. Kyle Moore and James Truckle scored for the Roadrunners to tie the game going into halftime. Drew Bonvini played outstanding defense and Ryan Pearlman played a strong game for the Wolverines. Matthew Hodge and Tim Dalton showed tremendous hustle for the Roadrunners.
TIGERSHARKS 3, SHARKS 1: In a battle between predatory fish, the Tigersharks overcame the Sharks. Andre Cappozziello, PAtrick Svitek and Trevor Todd scored to lead the T-Sharks while Kyle McCarthy led the defense. For the Sharks, Bryan Czel lead the offense with a powerful third quarter goal. Matt Yitts played outstanding defense and Brandon Body kept the game close with some beautiful saves in goal.

TORNADOES 3, EAGLES 2: Kate Bowen scored a pair of goals and Emma Whitley-Rodriquez added another to lift the Tornadoes past the Eagles. Melanie Scott and Bianca LeBlanc powered the defense. For the Eagles, Sarah Attanasio and Jenn Bonaccorso scored while Alex Israel played well. Katie Holroyd had an outstanding day in goal.
DOLPHINS 0, RAZORS 0: Natalie Villa and Chelsea Liker paced the Dolphins as Kelsey Hopper,. Maura Gissen, Ashleigh Leifels and Alanna Gilbert all led the Razors.
SCREAMING NIGHTMARES 1, DOLPHINS 1: Rebecca Jaroszewski of the Screaming Nightmares and Becka Castegner of the Dolphins scored the only goals in this game. Audra Sarna, Julia Klucik and Alison Pliszka played great defense for the Dolphins and Isabel Gleason was solid in goal. Cristina Naldini and Megan Rockwell had several key defensive stops for the Nightmares.
TIGERS 1, STRIKERS 0: Ali Korchman scored the lone goal and helped lift the Tigers to their first win. With hard playing by Katie McMorran, Angea Sobotka and Meahgan Wilson on offense and defense, the Tigers kept the Strikers from striking. Leah Barrett, Emma Kingsley and Ashley Szabo made it very difficult for the Tigers by playing an awesome offensive and defensive game for the Strikers. Hats off to both teams for playing a great game.

NIGHTMARE 2, NEW FAIRFIELD 1: Connor Collier and Andrew Domingos each scored a goal to lead Newtown to victory. Nightmare scored the winning goal on second half corner kick from Andrew Meisel to Connor Collier who put it in. Ryan Goodridge, Dan Kowarick and Kurt Nacewicz maintained a solid midfield. Conor McManus and Jason Kostecki anchored the defensive line.
NIGHTMARE 4, WATERTOWN 0: Andrew Domingos and Kurt Nacewicz scored two goals apiece to lead the Nightmare to their third straight win. A strong defense was anchored by Chris Marks, Michael Kearns and John Gouveia. Goalie duties where split between Jason Kostecki and Dan Quinn.

VIPERS 9, FARMINGTON 0 (State Cup): After a bye in the first round of the State Cup Tournament. the Vipers opened up play against Farmington and the offense for Newtown dominated. Anthony Florez and Paul Andras each scored twice, while Max Hoagland, Drew Taylor, Alex Bowen, Kevin Troy and Danny Smith scored one goal each. Chris Schreiber and Justin Miller added strong support for the Vipers.
VIPERS 10, WATERTOWN 0: The Vipers controlled the match with both offensive and defensive confidence and Watertown could not match the Viper intensity. Paul Andras scored the three Viper first half goals while in the second half Nick Kallivrousis and Kevin Troy each netted two along with Mat DeBrantes and Ethan Canfield, who netted one apiece.

RAGE 6, NEW HARTFORD 0: Brian Conroy and Nick Sando scored two goals apiece to propel the Rage past New Hartford. Aron Fay and Mark Cinquegrana also scored. Michael Kennedy notched a pair of assists as Jack Quinn and Chris Nuelle each recorded one assists. Matt Boland, Ross MacLeod and Eric MacKnight kept the offensive pressure up.

NAVIGATORS 2, NEW HARTFORD 0: Harriet Morgan scored a pair of goals to lift the Navigators to the win. Alana Bilangi and Kate Kirrane were solid on offense as Laura Konkos, Gabby Nastri and Jackie Petrasanta anchored the defense.

ROCKETS 4, COLCHESTER 0 (State Cup): Alex Konneker, Mary Anders, Siobhan Cooper and Emily Fields all scored one goal apiece to lead the Rockets to the win.
ROCKETS 8, NEW HARTFORD 0: Siobhan Cooper and Mary Anders scored two goals apiece as the Rockets blanked New Hartford. Emily FIelds, Casey Frobey, Tara Gaston and Tori Thomas also scored while Anders and Rawson chipped in with two assists apiece. Alex Konneker and Fields also recorded assists.
GIRLS U14
KNOCKOUTS 5, NEW HARTFORD 1: A hat trick by Kristen Davis and solo goals by Megan Regnery and Amanda Shevlin gave the Knockouts the win. Amy Doyle and Courtney Brunton has solid games in the goal. Karoline Engel and Cora Peffers had strong offensive games.
KNOCKOUTS 1, BERKSHIRE UNITED 1: The Knockouts put 35 shots on goal against a tough keeper and kept the ball in their opponents end for most of the game. The lone score came from Caitlin Weber early in the game. The entire team played extremely well. Kate Stickles and Tara Ryan had great games.
KNOCKOUTS 4, THOMASTON 3: Caitlin Weber scored a pair of goals and Kristen Davis and Kate Stickles added one apiece to lead the Knockouts to the win. Megan Regnery and Stacy Shpunt had strong defensive games and Sara Salbu had a solid performance in the midfield.
NECONN 2, KNOCKOUTS 0 (State Cup): In dust bowl conditions, the Knockouts could not find the back of the net . . . despite a solid team effort.
TRAVEL TRYOUTS
The Newtown Soccer Club will be holding tryouts for the Travel Division 2001-2002 seasons. Players in U10, U11 and U12 divisions MUST attend both tryouts. Should inclement weather postpone tryouts, all registered players will be notified (ALL players must register to try out). All tryouts will be held at the Newtown Middle School.
