DRUG CENTER 9, RICCIâS SALON 5: Ashley Soucar slammed a two-run homer and Kelly Lyndell hit the ball well to lead Drug Center to the win. Renee Rushefski played a solid defensive game. For Ricciâs, Krystal Perrotti and Gracia Bergan hit the ball well while Jaclyn Van Waalwijk and Katie Serock pitched well.
DRUG CENTER 14, CHUBBYâS DELI 7: Makena Cunningham had three hits and Melissa Fracker banged out a pair of doubles to power Drug Center to the win. For Chubbyâs, Rachel Rowan had a single and two doubles and Gretchen Carey had two hits to fuel the offense. Jenna Eberts played well in the field.
AIRE SERV HEATING & AC 10, NEWTOWN POLICE UNION 6: Sarah Shannon and Kim Nezvesky belted home runs and Nicole Reyen and Amanda Trock powered the offense as Aire Serv won. Jillian DâEramo, Jillian Lemma and Rachel Taback played well in the field. For Newtown Police, Jackie Kirol and Katy Caulfield both played well.
KOSCHEL BUS (#16) 11, BOB TENDLER REAL ESTATE 5: Marley Koschel cracked a grand slam to help lift Koschel Bus #16 to the win. Chelsea Carlin and Molly Tirrell both singled and Stephanie Sanchez played well in the field. For Tendler, Dayna, Djonne, Kate Bowen, Kelly Tenney and Maxx Zimmer shared the pitching duties while Nicki Haylon made a super catch in centerfield.

NEWTOWN INSURANCE 5, TAUNTON PRESS 4: Melissa Shepard cracked a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Newtown Insurance to the win. Katie Eberts pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Ashley Christiano and Michelle Brennan played great defense in the field. For Taunton Press, Celeste Villafano, Ellen Bino, and Tara Meehan had solid performances while Katie Rose Crevier pitched well.
DR CURTIS BECK 15, CAVALIERE & SONS 8: Elsa Gillis banged out three hits, including a home run, and Hillary Moskowitz pitched four solid innings to lead Dr Curtis Beck to the win. Katie Eckert had a timely sacrifice and Alycia Johnston was solid in the field. For Cavaliere, Christina Matsis had a pair of hits and also pitched well, striking out five batters. Allura Thompson hit the ball well and Jessica Dugan played well in the field.
NEWTOWN INSURANCE 14, CAVALIERE & SONS 9: Nicole Beatty and Ashley Christiano had four hits apiece as Newtown Insurance bested Cavalier & Sons. Katie Eberts had three hits and played well in the field. For Cavaliere, Katie Orlando had two hits and Nicole Shier scored two runs. Lauren Jones pitched well.
CAVALIERE & SONS 23, TAUNTON PRESS 18: Kayla Miles banged out a pair of hits, including a home run, to lift Cavaliere to the win. Sam Pribesh and Nicole Rua combined for nine hits and eight runs scored. For Taunton, Alicia Woolf, Jessica DiVanno and Celeste Villafano had good games.
NEWTOWN HARDWARE 20, CAVALIERE & SONS 1: Stephanie Manning banged out a home run to lead Newtown Hardware at the plate. Sally Tabler and Katie Midlik pitched well while Ali Swink and Tricia Reed had good games in the field. For Cavaliere, Alyssa Thompson hit the ball well as Jessica Dugan and Nicky Rua played well.
AIR SERVICE 3, RICCIâS SALON 0: Nora Lynn Shimko pitched four strong innings, with five strikeouts, to lead Aire Service. Sarah Pollak tripled in a run. For Ricciâs, Casey Day went 2-for-2 and Renee Solheim turned in a pair of fine defensive plays. Jaclyn Van Waalwijk and Katie Serock both pitched well.
NEWTOWN WOODWORKS 18, KENDRO LAB PODUCTS 17: Bria Innurato and Christie Nowak both banged out triples and drove in two runs apiece to lead Newtown Woodworks. Rachel Warburton doubled in two runs. Jessica Cosgrove and Becky Sampson had solid games behind the plate. For Kendro, Kelly Datin had three hits and four runs score, Jen Blauvelt had four runs scored, and Jackie Us pitched well.

For Dr Beck, Alycia Johnston hit a home run and Courtney Sullivan collected a pair of key hits. Caitlin OâConnor and Elsa Collis sparked the defense by turning double plays.

THE QUIET COMPANY 20, KENDRO LABS 3: Karli Beitel was 4-for-4 with a triple, Jenna Moser was 3-for-3 with four RBI, and Amanda Krause was 2-for-3 to lead The Quiet Company to the win. For Kendro, Jen Blauvelt and Jackie Us banged out a pair of hits while Jen Iassogna had a double. All three players scored a run.
NORTHERN WOODWORKS 17, THE QUIET COMPANY 17: Valerie Nezbesky belted a home run and drove in four runs to power Northern Woodworks. Sammie Ciascia, Kate Levasseur, Christie Nowak, Laura Konkos and Rachel Warburton played well. For The Quiet Company, Adeline Fulmer made a fine defensive play at third to end the sixth inning and Jenna Van Waalwijk pitched three strong innings with seven strikeouts. Kyla Miles, Amanda Chontos and Karli Beitel combined for six hits.

JP MAGUIRE ASSOCIATES 10, PEDIATRIC HEALTH CARE 6: Kristen Rockwell, Michelle Serock and Sonja Taylor all had solid hits to lead JP Maguire. Allie Horvak, Jackie Ercole and Christie Caruso all made solid defensive plays. For PHC, Jillian Blomberg pitched two solid innings as Lauren Gally and Candice Harrington played well in the field.
LEXINGTON GARDENS 22, JP MAGUIRE ASSOCIATES 15: Heather Tracey homered and Gina Bloshuk tripled to power the Lexington Gardens offense. Amanda Klabonski and Lauren Grimaldi had hits while Rebecca Narel pitched well to catchers Katie Murphy and Michele Imperioli, who had fine defensive efforts. For JP Maguire, Lisa Grossman homered and Jessica Gaddis and Michelle Serock hit the ball hard. Christie Caruso, Sonja Taylor and Sarah Holroyd were defensive standouts.
LEXINGTON GARDENS 21, McCHORD ENGINEERING 11: Keri Graves and Stacy Shpunt powered the Lexington Gardens offense in the win. Corrine Yllanes, Heather Tracey, Rebecca Narel, Lauren Grimaldi and Amanda Klabonski all had solid performances. For McChord, Coco Peyres had two singles, two RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored to lead the way. Theresa Villafano and Alyssa Scalora had two hits each and combined to swipe five bases.
ADVANTAGE LOAN 20, PEDIATRIC HEALTH 10: Caity Durkin had three hits and three RBI, Becky Lukeris homered,a nd Leah Herity, Michaela Brown and Lauren Reed banged out two hits apiece to lead Advantage Loan to the win. For Pediatric, Grace Hubina and Candace Harrington each belted a home run while Sally Lombardo had two hits and Sam Friedman sparked the defense with an unassisted double play.
TRAVEL TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the U10, U12 and U14 Newtown Hawks travel softball teams will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, at the Newtown Middle School. The teams will compete as Babe Ruth All-Stars and represent Newtown in the District Babe Ruth Tournament as well as compete in the Central Valley Fastpitch League. All teams will begin playing and practicing in June and complete their seasons by August 10. Only those players who can make a serious commitment to summer ball are encouraged to attend.
Attendance at the tryouts is mandatory. Cost to play for the summer is $125, which will cover uniforms, umpires and tournament fees.
U10 â May 19, 1 to 3 pm, and May 20, 5 to 7 pm.
U12 â May 19, 11 am to 1 pm, and May 20, 3 to 5 pm.
U14 â May 19, 9 to 11 am, and May 20, 1 to 3 pm.
